A van driver has appeared in court to deny causing the death of a teenage motorcyclist from Needham Market.

David Thomas, 61, pleaded not guilty today to causing death by careless driving.

He is accused of driving a Ford Transit van which was involved in a collision with a Kawasaki motorcycle being ridden by Darnell Meade, 19.

Mr Meade, father to a 19 month old daughter, was declared dead at the scene near the junction of Norwich Road and Sandy

Lane at Barham on April 24 last year.

Thomas, of Old Station Road, Halesworth, was told by Judge Rupert Overbury that his trial would take place in November.

Thomas was granted unconditional bail until his next court appearance.
