US athletes give spectators a taste of excellence

US Paralympic athletes were given some advance training at RAF Lakenheath when they visited the base last week.

Some 57 Paralympians and hopefuls were at the base as they made their final preparations for the games which opened on Wednesday.

Cathy Sellers, US Paralympic track and field high-perforamnce director, said: “We have had a lot of support from the staff, a lot of support from the local community and everyday when we come out to train we have had a whole set of spectators just watching our athletes perform.”
