The man who died in a two-car collision on the B1078 Barking Road at Needham Market last night has been named.

Police say he was Mike Ashton, aged 47, from Hitcham, who died at the scene.

Emergency services were called at about 8.45pm to a collision between a Ford Mondeo and a Peugeot 206. Mr Ashton was a front seat passenger in the Peugeot.

Fire and ambulance crews were also at the scene and a man, in his 20s, driving the Ford and a woman, in her 30s, driving the Peugeot were taken to hospital with what the police describe as ‘serious injuries’.

The road was closed while an investigation began.

Suffolk Police are asking anyone saw the crash or either of the vehicles prior to the collision to call 101 quoting CAD number 353 of March 15.
