UPDATE: Police deal with drivers trying to take photos of crash on A14 near Bury St Edmunds
A Land Rover and trailer overturned blocking one lane of the A14 near Bury St Edmunds this morning, Wednesday March 16.
The crash took place at Westley on the westbound carriageway. The fast lane was blocked.
There were long delays in the area while police cleared the scene but officers said they also had to deal with a number of drivers who were trying to take photos of the crash, therefore putting themselves and other at risk of creating another collision.
A Suffolk Police spokesman said five drivers were stopped for taking or attempting to take pictures of the collision.
They were issued with traffic offence reports and they will be considered for the offence of failing to be in proper control of their vehicle.
The minimum penalty for this is three points on their licence and £100 fine.
It would not be the first time drivers have been prosecuted for taking photos of a crash on the A14. Last year 24 motorists were prosecuted after a lorry crash.
