Police are continuing to hunt two burglars after a man was shot during a break-in at a mansion in Sible Hedingham yesterday.
The man, aged in his 40s, suffered a gunshot wound to his leg after two men broke into the home, in Rectory Road, in the early hours of the morning.
They threatened the man, who locked himself in a bedroom and it is believed a gun was fired through the door - leaving him with ‘life changing injuries’.
The pair fled empty handed and police were called shortly before 4.40am.
The man remains in hospital.
Police have remained at the scene carrying out forensic searches and house to house enquiries.
Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Mark Cadd, said: “The two suspects are both white, aged in their 20s, of slim build and wearing dark clothing. One of them is described as bald. This was an extremely distressing incident for the victim and he has suffered life-changing injuries which have left him in great pain.
“I urgently need to find the men responsible and I would appeal for anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour in Sible Hedingham, either before or after the burglary, to call me at Essex Police on 101.
“Alternatively they can ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, it offers rewards of up to £1,000 for information leading to the arrest or conviction of offenders.”
