UPDATE: Man, 22, charged with drug offences after police discover large cannabis factory in Thetford

A man is due to appear in court today (Wednesday) charged in connection with drug offences after police uncovered a large cannabis factory in Thetford on Monday.

Officers seized around 470 plants and a large amount of hydroponics equipment from a property in Lime Kiln Lane shortly after 7pm, after a search was carried out under section 19 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.

A man was arrested at the address on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

He was further arrested for abstracting electricity whilst in custody and has been subsequently charged with both offences.

Quang Van Tran, 22, of Lime Kiln Lane, was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court this morning.
