A Suffolk and Fire Rescue spokesman said they were called to a barn fire where approximately 500 tonnes of straw was alight.

The farmer assisted firefighters by removing straw with mechanical handling machinery and crew welfare was provided by the Salvation Army.

The incident was stopped at 9.43pm yesterday but fire services remained in attendance through the night with relief crews from various stations attending and are still in attendance this morning to ensure the site is safe.
