UPDATE: Crews at house fire in Pakenham

Fire and ambulance crews attended a house fire in Church Hill, Pakenham, last night (Wednesday).

Suffolk Fire Service said appliances from Bury St Edmunds and Ixworth were called just before 5pm and arriving to find the house heavily smoke logged.

By 5.30pm the fire was found to be confined to a study and was put out using a hose-reel jet and breathing apparatus, but the fire service were on site until after 8pm ventilating the house.

Ambulance is on scene to treat the house occupant for smoke inhalation and the Red Cross attended to assist the householder.
