A car has flipped over into a field near the A14 at Rougham leaving one person with a serious head injury.
Police were called to the incident on the westbound carriageway at around 12.35pm this afternoon.
A man in his late teens was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital with a serious head injury.
A woman who was also in the vehicle received minor injuries.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust was called at 12.38pm today to a road traffic collision on the A14 at Rougham.
“An ambulance crew, rapid response vehicle, ambulance officer and East Anglian Air Ambulance attended to a man in his late teens.
“They treated the man at the scene and was taken by land ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in a critical condition.”
A police spokesman said: “There are reports a vehicle has flipped over into a field.
“There is one potential serious injury, a casualty is to be taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, possibly by the air ambulance.”
Both the westbound and eastbound carriageways have now reopened.
