UPDATE: A14 at Stowmarket re-opens after lorry collision

The A14 in Stowmarket has re-opened in both directions after a lorry collided with the central reservation and spilled fuel this morning.

Police were called this morning shortly after 4.30am to reports of a lorry hitting the westbound central reservation just after the A1120 junction.

Ambulance and Suffolk Fire and Rescue attended, and road closures were put in place. The driver is believed to have suffered a medical episode and was taken to Ipswich Hospital.

Both lanes of the westbound carriageway were shut with motorists diverted onto the A1120 through Stowmarket.

A few hundred yards from this incident on the eastbound carriage, another lorry became stuck, causing a further closure of one lane.

All lanes have now been re-opened.
