Unpaid carers in and around Bury St Edmunds are being offered much needed respite support by a voluntary group.
The Bury St Edmunds Volunteer Centre is extending its support which includes workshops in activities such as Christmas card and bird box making as well as trips to the Norfolk Broads, Bressingham Steam and Gardens and theatre shows.
Chief Officer Hazel Pidsley said: “These events and activities are free to those who care for someone without pay.
“Being a carer can be very demanding and stressful so it is important these people have the opportunity for respite for the sake of their own mental and physical well-being.
“We have always supported carers in any way we can but the demand for our services are growing so we have decided to expand the programme of activities we provide to support more carers. We encourage any carer interested in any of our activities to get in touch so we can make arrangements for them to attend.”
