Residents who have been waiting since 2014 for construction of a play area on Moreton Hall, Bury St Edmunds, to be finished could finally get their wish later this year.

Taylor Wimpey completed work on the community space off of Lady Miriam Way in 2014 but St Edmundsbury Borough Council has still not installed the remaining play equipment.

A council spokesman said: “The ball court was opened in the summer of 2014. There were then delays associated with the ownership transfer and more recently with ground conditions on site.”

He added: “We are hopeful that the play area will be open in the late spring after some major reinstatement works due to the very wet autumn/winter period.”

The finished project, which will be reminiscent of the play area in the Abbey Gardens, is expected to cost £230,000 and will be funded by developer contributions.
