Bury St Edmunds tour guide Stephen Moody wonders if St Edmundsbury Cathedral names are his ancestors
He is used to showing others the sights of Bury St Edmunds, but town tour guide Stephen Moody was this week pointed to some possible history of his own inside St Edmundsbury Cathedral.
Repair work to the floorboards has revealed 15 memorial stones hidden since an 1860s refurbishment.
Five of these are of the Moody family - which led to Stephen receiving an unexpected phone call.
He said: "I have been able to trace my family back to the 1400s in the Hartest area.
"But I was unaware of a link to the church warden, Samuel Moody, so this gives me a chance to research my family history further."
The Moody had a long connection to the former St James' Church - which is now the cathedral.
