Bury St Edmunds energy firm helps Rickinghall Runners stay on track

A village running club will be making its mark thanks to a donation from energy firm UK Power Networks.

Peter Bolton, who works as a project manager for the Barton Road company in Bury St Edmunds applied for a Team Sport Award and the firm donated £250 for new kit and equipment for Rickinghall Runners.

Peter from Botesdale joined the club 18 months ago and along with his wife Lin helps organise events for the club which started two years ago and has 25 members.

The couple recently completed a fund-raising run for a leading Alzheimers charity supported by Peter's work colleagues.

He said: "I didn't much like running at school and remember especially hating cross country, but have really got into it since becoming involved with Rickinghall Runners."

The money will go towards more running vests and the club has decided to give all members, old and new, an ID wristband that carries contact information should they get into difficulty while out running.

Last year UK Power Networks donated £18,000 to groups through the Team Sport award.
