A group of travellers have moved from a town centre car park to park land on a housing estate in Bury St Edmunds.

Earlier this week, the travellers pitched up on St Andrews car park, which is subject to a court injunction banning illegal occupation of the site.

They have since moved on to park land on Moreton Hall, which is also covered by the injunction.

A spokesman for St Edmundsbury Borough Council said: “This morning we have advised the travellers that they need to move. If they are still there on Monday we can make an application to the High Court for committal proceedings for contempt of court.”
