Man dies after car collides with lorry

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a fatal car accident on the A14 at Stowupland last night.

Emergency services were called to the incident shortly after 11pm on Sunday night after a car collided with a stationary lorry parked in a layby on the A14 east bound carriageway at Stowupland.

The driver of the green Volkswagen Sharan, a man in his 40s from the Hadleigh area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four fire crews attended to release the casualty from his car which was trapped under the lorry.

The east bound carriageway of the A14 was closed for more than five hours while police investigated the accident and a diversion was set up through Stowmarket.
