Tracie’s Hair today, gone tomorrow

Have your say

A TRIP to the hairdressers is usually a chance for some ‘me time’.

But for Tracie Houghton, Saturday’s visit to All About Hair, in Mildenhall, was all about St Nicholas Hospice Care.

Selfless Tracie threw vanity to the wind and had her head shaved for charity – raising more than £4,000.

Tracie, who works in Mildenhall’s branch of Lloyds Pharmacy, was inspired by seeing customers who were affected by life-shortening conditions and cancer.

Her father-in-law died from pancreatic cancer and other members of her family have beaten the disease.

She said: “It’s not too bad being bald, but I’ve had two months to get used to the idea.

“I’ve only had my hair cut – I’m not going through treatment for cancer like some of our customers.”

Tracie had initially hoped to raise £1,000, but had eclipsed that amount within the first month of fund-raising.

“Everyone has been really supportive and I have had such a good response from the pharmacy customers,” she said.
