Topping out ceremony as work on Westhorpe Village Hall continues

A topping out ceremony to mark the completion of the main structure and roof at the new village hall in Westhorpe was held as construction work draws nearer a conclusion.

The village hall committee were given a grant of £451,820 from the Big Lottery Fund towards the work, with additional funds being received from Suffolk County Council and Mid Suffolk and Babergh District Council.

Councillors Jane Storey, and Roy Barker made allocations from their locality budgets, while residents raised more than £30,000 and Westhorpe Trust also made a donation.

The old hall was demolished earlier this year with it being beyond repair.

Work, which is being carried out by Mixbrow Construction of Needham Market, is expected to be completed in February of next year.
