A TEENAGER has become one of few Guides to achieve the highest award in Guiding.

Elizabeth Gray, 14, from Stowmarket, has gained the Baden Powell Challenge Award. She was presented with a special badge and certificate at a party held on Wednesday, in Stowmarket, to mark her achievement.

The King Edwards VI pupil said: “It’s good to get it. I understand it’s not something many people get.

“I knew it was a high achievement and I thought it would be nice to get it.”

Jill Geaney, leader of 1st Stowmarket Guides, said: “Not many people stay long enough or apply themselves enough to get it. It’s a good sign of staying power.”

Elizabeth had to complete five challenges and finish the award with the Baden Powell adventure.
