The Olympic flame burned brightly last Friday - despite the grim weather - as more than 400 children took part in a student-led sports event last Friday.
Thurston Community College hosted pupils for the Thurston Partnership Sports Festival, with every Year 4 student from all 17 primary schools from the area taking part.
The event was organised and led by 26 of the host’s Year 9 pupils and Rougham Primary School ran out the overall winners.
Stefan Lewis, head of PE at Thurston Community College, said the day was a way of carrying on the Olympic spirit.
“They did a fantastic job despite the weather, which didn’t dampen their spirits at all.
“It was highly competitive and engaging and really showed the Olympic values we want to uphold,” he said.
Mr Lewis added that the festival would now become an annual event.
