A college has come up with a new way of encouraging enjoyment of reading and development of reading skills among its pupils.
Thurston Community College’s ‘reading community’ launched last month with an ‘evening of ghost stories’.
The event included readings of ghost stories from William Hussey, acclaimed author of the Witchfinder trilogy, award-winning ghost stories from students and a spooky and dramatic performance.
A college spokeswoman said: “We recognise that reading skills are critical to student enjoyment and ‘success in learning’ at school and beyond. As a result, we have formed the ‘TCC reading community’.”
