Three crews tackle fire in Lakenheath

Multiple crews tackled a fire in an outbuilding in Lakenheath this afternoon.

Firefighters from Littleport were sent to the fire in Sedge Fen Road, Lakenheath, at around 1.50pm.

The incident was initially reported as a fire in a back garden, but en route the crew saw a large amount of smoke and requested more support, which a crew from Mildenhall responded to.

Firefighters found an outbuilding, measuring approximately 50 metres by 10 metres, ‘well alight’ and requested the assistance of a third fire engine.

Crews used four hose reels, supplemented by a hydrant, to bring the fire under control.

They had left the scene by 4.20pm.
