When Gerald and Janet Williams returned from holiday, their garden looked bare compared with when they left.

For on the day before they returned to their home in Church Road, Chevington, their neighbour noticed a flowerpot on the drive, then realised the Victorian chimney pot the couple had used as a pot holder for 35 years had gone.

In fact, thieves had stolen eight of the pots, which Gerald estimates were worth a total of about £600, plus an antique cast iron boot scraper. The theft happened weeks after the nearby church had roofing lead stolen.

Anyone with information should call Suffolk Police on 101 quoting 37-16233-15.
