Thieves spill diesel in Thetford break-in

Have your say

Three fire crews had to tackle a diesel spillage this morning after two people tried to steal diesel from a building on an industrial estate.

Two vehicles were used by the thieves, with one being left at the scene on Howlett Way, Thetford.

The pair tried to take a quantity of diesel from a storage tank after breaking into a commercial premises between 10.30pm last night and 1.15am this morning.

Some of the diesel spilled out of the abandoned vehicle on to the road and had to be cleared by two appliances from Thetford and the Environmental Protection Unit from Sprowston.

The brigade used granules to absorb the spillage and drain dams to prevent diesel entering the drainage system.

Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact Sgt Kelly Ashby at Thetford on 101.
