A man armed with a knife demanded money from the cashier of a Thetford petrol station yesterday evening (15).

Police have said the man left the Jet petrol station in Bury Road with an undisclosed amount of cash taken from a till. No-one was injured during the robbery.

Officers were called at about 8.23pm and the police helicopter was deployed to assist in the search for the offender.

Police have released a description of the armed robber as being white, in his 30s, about five foot six inches tall with dark hair. He was wearing a chequered tea towel or similar over his face. It is thought he was also wearing dark coloured trousers and a dark coloured jacket and had a carrier bag with him.
