Thetford Fire Station wants more to join up

Thetford Fire Station is calling for more retained firefighters to join the service.

The station has four vacancies and is holding a recruitment open evening on February 7 to find new members, in particularly people who can offer on-call cover in the daytime.

Steve Collins, Thetford Retained Watch Manager, said: “We are looking for people from all walks of life. People who are active and looking to give something back to their community.”

There is no upper age limit (minimum age is 18) for being an on-call firefighter, but they must live or work within five minutes of the station. Many already in these roles also juggle careers, carrying an alerter to let them know when an incident occurs.

The open evening is open to anyone who is interested, on February 7, at 7pm, at Thetford Fire Station
