Sing, dress up and enjoy special interactive screening of hit musical The Greatest Showman in Bury St Edmunds
Roll up, roll up! The greatest show is on its way to Bury St Edmunds – and for one night only the audience is encouraged to sing along.
Special 'sing-a-long-a' interactive showings of smash hit film musical The Greatest Showman are coming to the big screen at the Theatre Royal on March 7.
Fans of the movie will be able to enjoy the film in the greatest way possible, by singing along to on-screen lyrics (as loud as they wish to belt out the many hits) and wearing costumes.
Fancy dress is not obligatory, but if you want to wear your best top hat and tails or groom your facial hair to be the bearded lady then this is your chance.
Each screening starts with a sing-a-long-a host who warms up the audience, shows them how to interact with the movie using the contents of their free props bag and where to heckle in the right places. The host also judges the fancy dress competition.
The wildly popular 2017 film, starring Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams and Zendaya, charts the rise of PT Barnum and his journey into showbusiness.
Popular numbers include This Is Me, A Million Dreams, Rewrite the Stars, Come Alive and The Greatest Show.
The idea of sing-a-long-a film screenings was born at an old people's home in Inverness, when nurses keen to involve residents in group therapy screened Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and handed out song sheets so everyone could sing along.
Such was its success, the idea was developed for Sound of Music film festival screenings in the late 1990s. Since then, Sing-a-long-a Productions has toured the world with interactive screenings of musicals including The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Grease.
Sing-a-long-a: The Greatest Showman is at the Theatre Royal at 3pm and 7.30pm on March 7.
