Befriending Service needs volunteers for new telephone service

A new telephone befriending service has been launched to help combat isolation.

The Voluntary Network's face-to-face service has been suspended at this time, however the new telephone alternative covers all of West Suffolk and could make a difference to older people and volunteers.

A Voluntary Network spokeswoman said: "We are hoping to recruit lots of new volunteers. I'm sure there are lots of people looking to get involved but are otherwise stuck at home – we are hoping this will be the perfect way of maintaining a link with the wider community.

The Voluntary Network will continue to provide community transport inSt Edmundsbury and Forest Heath. (32378155)

"We are also inviting referrals, just contact us to let us know about any older person who would welcome such calls, perhaps a family member that you can no longer visit."
