TWO 14-year-old boys cycled from their home village of Fornham St Martin to the coastal town of Felixstowe to raise money for charity.

Ross Jepson and Alex Earle undertook the 51-mile trip on August 5, averaging a speed of 16.5mph and finishing their journey at Felixstowe’s Spa Pavilion.

The County Upper School pupils were joined on the adventure by Ross’s mother, Julia Jepson, who was pacemaker, and brother Mark, who acted as their mascot.

It was their first sponsored cycle ride and they raised £212.05 for St Nicholas Hospice Care, in Bury St Edmunds.

Sue Long, community fund-raiser for the hospice, said: “The boys said their incentive to keep the pace up was to get back home for much-needed showers and to watch the Olympics.

“Well done to Ross and Alex. The hospice is very grateful for all their efforts.”
