An air ambulance was called to the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club this afternoon after a teenager suffered a neck injury while playing a game of rugby.

Dr Vicky Smith and critical-care paramedics Jemma Varela and Olly Robinson treated him at the scene before airlifting him to West Suffolk Hospital shortly after 2pm.

A spokeswoman for the East Anglian Air Ambulance said the patient was ‘in a stable condition’.
