A GOLF day has raised more than £1,000, in celebration of the Royal British Legion’s 90th anniversary.
Hosted at the Bury Golf Club, the event included a prize draw, a golf competition, a Trick Shot Show by Kevin Carpenter and a meal, raising a total of £1,245. Forty golfers attended, with a mix of currently serving and ex-service personnel, legion members and non-members.
“We just want to thank everyone who donated prizes, and the Bury Golf Club, who donated the use of their course,” said Sandra Bromley, the organiser. “The day went very well, and the sun shone, which helped.”
One of the main events of the day was Kevin Carpenter’s Trick Shot Show, where Kevin performed a series of entertaining shots, using unicycles, giant boxes and extra long golf clubs, among other things.
This was the first golf day hosted in Bury, though there are hopes to make it annual.
