A technology firm in Bury St Edmunds has secured the opportunity to win Government and other public service contracts.

Victoria Forms has been selected for the G-Cloud supplier framework for IT services.

G-Cloud allows Government departments and the wider public sector to buy IT services through Cloudstore, with less red tape and more chance for SMEs to compete.

“It gives us our first opportunity to pursue Government contracts in earnest,” said Robert Cowan, business development manager at Victoria Forms,

He said more than 90 per cent of the firm’s business is with in the public sector – but like many other SMES the amount of staff time involved in completing in ‘complex tendering processes’ with central Government, had made them ‘inaccessible’.

“Without being sure to win a contract, the upfront investment in staff time and resources is a considerable cost for an SME – even though the company may strongly believe it has a better or more effective solution for the contracting organisation,” said Mr Cowan.

“G-Cloud appears to offer a more level playing field for SMEs seeking to compete with larger companies.”
