Suspended jail sentence for Hitcham man caught with indecent images of children

A man from Hitcham who was caught with indecent images of children has been handed a suspended prison sentence.

Ryan Ellis, 27, of Bildeston Road, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court yesterday (January 3) after pleading guilty to three offences of making indecent images of a child.

Prosecutor Michael Crimp told the court that when police examined a mobile phone belonging to Ellis they discovered more than 400 illegal pictures.

Of the 422 images, 144 were found to be in the most serious category.

He was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment suspended for two years.

Ellis will also have to complete 150 hours of unpaid community work and a 60 day rehabilitation programme.

Appearing for Ellis, Isabel Ascherson said he had sought professional help to address his behaviour.
