Suffolk police have recruited a temporary Deputy Chief Constable.

Stephen Jupp has been selected to join the Constabulary to fill Deputy Chief Constable Gareth Wilson’s role while Chief Constable Douglas Paxton remains on sick leave.

Mr Jupp is currently Assistant Chief Constable at Nottinghamshire Police, where he has overall responsibility for crime investigation and reduction.

Mr Wilson said: “Stephen is an officer with a wealth of experience, having service with the Metropolitan Police, West Midlands Police and, currently, Nottinghamshire Police.

“I am delighted that Stephen is joining our Chief Officer team – and I am confident that he will make a significant contribution to helping us transform our organisation to meet the financial challenges ahead while keeping Suffolk safe.”

Mr Jupp is expected to join Suffolk Constabulary in April.
