Students’ work gets showcased

A GROUP of students have revealed what goes on behind the scenes when Ickworth House is closed during the winter.

As work continues for July’s opening of Ickworth Lives, an Edwardian project that will bring to life the stories of Ickworth people, West Suffolk College photographic students have enjoyed privileged access to the house.

They captured images of the scenes around them, which included staff preparing the house for the open season and work being done to restore the Edwardian kitchens.

Their pictures have gone on display in The Apex, in Bury St Edmunds, and will be exhibited in the coffee lounge area on the first floor until Wednesday.

Tony Doherty, venues director at The Apex, said: “Like those at Ickworth, we know what it’s like to be working hard behind closed doors to prepare events and activities for people to enjoy.”
