Students from Stour Valley Community School in Clare got a taste of life behind the scenes at a working theatre.

As well as enjoying a tour of the Theatre Royal, in Bury St Edmunds, they took part in a drama workshop and got a peak at the technical side including lighting and staging.

Georgina Stone, the theatre’s education officer, said: “This has been a great opportunity for young people to get a comprehensive view of a working regional theatre.

“It’s been an exciting opportunity for them to look backstage and get to know about the different working departments.”

Julie McGlue, learning support assistant at the school, added: “It’s been a fantastic experience for our students.”
