A Stradishall-based magician and illusionist has been named one of Britain’s top children’s entertainers.

Being nominated and chosen to perform in this year’s British Children’s Entertainer National Championships was itself a huge achievement, so to also win a trophy was a truly magical experience for Gemma Raymond.

The 25-year-old, whose act included making Harry, her pet rabbit, appear, said: “I was in absolute shock.

“It just meant so much and I was so humbled by how everyone responded to me because I had children coming up saying they thought it was amazing and other magicians, too.”

The former Haven Funstar and Butlins Redcoat was also excited about being the first female to ever place in the competition at Blackpool’s annual convention, which is known as Europe’s biggest magic stage.
