A Stowmarket slimmer is looking to pick up a second accolade after being nominated for a district award.

Michelle Waters, from Stowmarket, who already won a Woman of the Year competition at her group, where she managed to lose five stone, has now been nominated for Slimming World District Woman of the Year as well.

Having been selected as one of 25 nominees in a district of 13,500 slimmers has shocked Michelle.

She said: “It is just now sinking in, it is such a nice surprise to be nominated, it is only now when I look back I realise just how much I have come.”

Michelle took part in the Race for Life this year and has become a keen walker too, encouraging her friends to go with her but feels her motivation helped her stick to her goals.

She said: “I started going to the group not just for my health but to help me support my children better as well, I just feel so much better for doing it.”

Zia Hull, who runs the Stowmarket group at the Hillside Community Centre, couldn’t be more pleased for Michelle’s nomination.

She said: “It is absolutely amazing, with five children at home and her youngest being poorly with a heart condition, for her still to come in and hit her target weight is incredible and I can’t wait to take her to the event and spoil her.”

Zia also feels everyone can take something from what Michelle has achieved.

She added: “I think she is just simple inspiring and she shows that even though we have busy lifestyles it doesn’t stop us from getting where we want to be, she is so motivational and just shows us that anything is possible.”

The Slimming World District Woman of the Year award will be held at Moreton Hall Community Centre tomorrow, Saturday September 12.
