Estate agent Paul Wright & Co is offering sellers and landlords special deals to mark its 50th year in business.

Founded in Stowmarket by local resident Paul Wright in 1965, the independent estate agent has despite a growing number of agents vying for business.

Paul, who is still actively involved with the firm, said: “We are thrilled to have reached this historic landmark which represents a significant achievement for a local independent firm, especially given the volatile nature of our industry.

“It has been a rollercoaster journey and there have been some difficult moments with housing market booms and economic recessions both presenting challenges along the way.”

He remarked how technology has changed the way property is bought and sold. In 1965, it was by post and landlines, with property details placed in windows.

Today, first time buyers or those further up the property ladder are able to access the latest properties wherever they are via smart phones and tablets.

Director David Cockburn said: “We face increased competition from other agents and larger chains, as well as a fee-driven market place, but reaching our 50-year anniversary shows that the one thing buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants alike still value the most is a high quality, personal service.”
