A man has been fined after being found in possession of the Class B drug cannabis.

Jordon Lee, 26, of Hill Rise, Stowmarket, appeared at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday (December 31) and pleaded guilty to possessing the illegal drug.

Tess Mann, prosecuting, said a police officer saw a car parked on the edge of Edgecomb Road, Stowmarket, at 7.30pm on October 8.

The interior light was illuminated and when he spoke to the driver, who was alone in the car, he noticed there was a strong smell of cannabis.

The car was searched and four one gram bags of cannabis were found behind the driver’s seat, said Ms Mann.

Lee, who was not represented in court, said the drugs were for his own personal use.

He was fined £150 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.

Magistrates also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
