Bury St Edmunds based Menta helps 270 people launch their own business with its Start Right training
A programme in Suffolk and Norfolk aimed to give people vital business skills has helped 270 people start their own businesses.
Some 500 people have attended the Start Right workshops run by Menta based in Bury St Edmunds.
These have been offering free advice on business planning, marketing, book keeping and self assessment since 2016.
Among them is Adam Steggles who set up his Refined Blinds showroom near Bury in 2018 after 19 years experience in the window blind industry.
He said: "I found the Start Right workshops to be invaluable for my new business, despite my initial reluctance to attend 'courses'.
"My scepticism was completely unfounded however. The tutors were friendly and informative and continue to be a source of knowledge and support. The workshops opened my eyes and thoughts to areas I hadn't considered, as well as furthering and refining the ideas I had already conceived and was putting into practice."
He added: "I set up Refined Blinds to provide a friendly no pressure approach. We pride ourselves on attention to detail and the one to one personal approach."
Jo Garden, who manages Start Right, said: "It's great to see the ambition and entrepreneurial ideas that delegates have and to see them become confident in their abilities to launch their business."
Menta continues to support new start-ups as they become more established by holding monthly networking events, Coffee Means Business and providing seminars and masterclasses.
The Start Right programme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund. Menta trainers hold regular sessions in Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Beccles and in Norwich, Dereham and North Walsham in Norfolk.
To attend you must live in one of the two counties and be thinking of starting a business or have done so in the last 12 months.
