Bury-born soprano Clare Presland and Radio 2 Musician of the Year winner John Kirkpatrick are among the exciting line-up at this year’s Woolpit Festival.

The event, celebrating its 41st year, kicks off on Saturday June 4 with a lunch time concert from cellist Rebecca Welham.

On Thursday June 9, English National Opera soloist and Suffolk girl Clare Presland joins pianist Simon Lepper for an evening of music in St Mary’s church.

On Friday June 10, pianist Matthew McCombie is playing a set of works from Schubert, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky before jazz man Chris Ingham celebrates the work of Hoagy Carmichael on Saturday June 11.

On Saturday June 18 the festival is organising a ‘Village Day’ to coincide with Woolpit Open Gardens.

On June 30 the tale of Woolpit’s past will be brought to life by the children at Woolpit School, and the London-based Gelächter Wind Trio in a new musical by Andrew Wilson called ‘The Green Children’.

Tickets for all the events are available from the Box Office at Struan, The Green, Woolpit, by calling 01359 240866 and also on the door.
