Spouses of the 48th Civil Engineer Squadron firefighters at RAF Lakenheath experienced a day in their partners’ boots on May 1.

After arriving early to observe a shift change, the spouses toured the station and spoke to firefighters about their duties.

Following a lunch with partners and firefighters together, the day concluded with a hands-on event, allowing spouses to team up and extinguish a live fire at the flightline training facility.

Spouses’ Day was the result of four months’ organisation by Jennifer Coughlin, 48th CES fire department key spouse and wife of Tech Sgt Kevin Coughlin, 48th CES firefighter and station captain.
