HUNDREDS of sports volunteering opportunities will be up for grabs at an event on Wednesday.

Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre will host the event, showcasing roles for tea makers, marshalls, web designers, language translators and more.

Suffolk Volunteering members will be on hand on the day to talk people through the roles available in sports clubs at events this year. Current volunteers will also be present to share their experiences.

Michelle Banfield-Curran, Abbeycroft Leisure partnership manager, said: “This year, more than any other, the focus is on sport because of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and we wanted to showcase some of the many opportunities for people to get involved in sport by becoming a volunteer.

“The event will also showcase why volunteering is not just of benefit to the clubs and events you are giving your time to. It is also about the rewards you will get as a volunteer including the development of your skills, expanding your social circle and becoming part of the community.”

The event kicks off at 2.30pm and finishes at 7.30pm.
