A WHEELCHAIR push from Bury St Edmunds to Sudbury has raised more than £1,285 to help disabled sportsmen and women.

Chris Rix, 26, and Jordan Hughes, 16, along with a band of supporters carried out the Big Push over 16.5 miles between Tesco stores in both towns.

Chris, who has cerebal palsy, has been a member of the Bury Bombers wheelchair basketball team for several years.

He and Jordan also raised money for the Suffolk Spartans Powerlifting Club.

The push took six hours and there was encouragement and cheers from supporters along the way. At their destination, staff at Tesco in Sudbury came out to welcome Chris and Jordon and provided the team with refreshments.

Denny Bros, Arco and The Rushbrooke Arms supported the event. The money raised will be used to offer sporting opportunities to more disabled young people. To donate contact Jordan at jordy.hughes@btinternet.com
