Scale model truck supplier, Speedbird Promotions, is celebrating its 10th year with a new contract to supply scale models for Maritime Transport.

The Ixworth based company adds the national container transport business to its already successful portfolio of contracts with Eddie Stobart, Scania and WH Malcolm.

Speedbird managing director, Ben Lord, transformed his hobby and enthusiasm into a successful business supplying scale model trucks after leaving school.

The company works alongside its Dutch production partners Tekno and now also supplies promotional models direct from China.

Speedbird was selected by Maritime Transport which has its headquarters in Felixstowe, to supply a range of model trucks, depicting the DAF XF Euro 6 and Scania R Series Streamline models, along with replica curtainside and 40 ft container trailers.

Ben said: “ Maritime was always a company I wanted to see in our portfolio as it is one of the great names in the British Transport scene, and especially being a Suffolk-based success story as well. We hope that this will be the beginning of another long-standing relationship similar to what we have built up with other clients across the UK.”

Alex Williams, Maritime’s general manager, said: “We recently decided to have our fleet replicated in scale model and were delighted to select Speedbird as our preferred supplier, especially as they are a locally based company as well.”
