VILLAGE residents have joined forces to crack down on speeding motorists as part of a new initiative.
Twelve volunteers have signed up for Community Speed Watch, which launched in Redgrave on Monday.
Working in pairs, they record details of speeding vehicles at four sites in the parish.
Details of the vehicles are then passed to the police and a letter is issued to the registered owner.
A maximum of two letters will be sent to offenders before their details are passed to a roads policing officer.
Redgrave Parish Council is funding the scheme.
Sgt Jon Eaves, of Mid Suffolk North Safer Neighbourhood team, said: “This allows residents to take an active part in speed reduction.”
