Special harvest celebrations

SENIOR citizens from Stowmarket enjoyed a special harvest day out thanks to school children.

Residents from Kiln Cottages, Old School, Weston and Partridge Courts were collected by minibus last Thursday for a fun and busy day at Stowmarket Middle School.

Coffee and biscuits were served on arrival by groups of school pupils and the guests were then invited to take their seats for a special Harvest performance.

They enjoyed numbers performed by the school choir and a poetry session.

The guests were then treated to a roast dinner in the school cafeteria, before being transported back to their homes.

A group of year eight students then gave out Harvest parcels, donated by all of the school pupils, and spent some time talking to the senior citizens.

Stowmarket Middle School teacher, Mervyn Evans, said: “The guests thoroughly enjoyed their pre-lunch entertainment.

“The whole day was a huge success with both the youngsters and the senior citizens enjoying each other’s company.”
