Lavenham’s Christmas Festival kicks off tomorrow with two sporty guests making an appearance to switch on the village’s Christmas lights.

Ipswich Town Football Club legend Fabian Wilnis will be joined by former England rugby player and Help for Heroes patron Simon Halliday for the switch-on from 6pm.

The lighting up ceremony marks the start of Lavenham’s three-day Christmas Festival which this year has a Dickensian theme - with prizes being awarded for the best fancy dress costume and best dressed shop window.

The market place will be filled with more than 80 stalls offering food and crafts with entertainment from carol singers, musicians, groups and buskers as well as an old-fashioned fairground and donkey rides.
