A WAITRESS is hoping she has what it takes after her rapping got her a spot in a talent competition.

Sophie Burr-Walpole, 18, who works at The Warrener, in Thetford, has written and recorded her tune, Whitbread Working, as part of Whitbread’s Got Talent – the hotel, company’s in-house talent contest.

Most entrants cover other artist’s tracks but wannabe hip-hop star Sophie was inspired by the firm’s brands – including Costa Coffee, and Premier Inn – to pen her lyrics.

She said: “It took me a couple of days to write but I really wanted to do something different. I’ve performed in front of people before, but never rapped.”

The former Charles Burrell High School pupil is hoping she will get enough public votes on the contest’s website to get through to a live performance later this year.
